Wix Studio vs Webflow for a Small Business (2026)

Wix Studio versus Webflow for a US small business in 2026 — plan prices after both platforms' changes, design control, e-commerce and bookings, portability, SEO, what clients actually paid for each, and which one fits which business.

Wix Studio vs Webflow for a Small Business (2026) — American Web Guild guide card

( The Short Answer )

Wix Studio wins for a small business that sells or takes bookings: payments, scheduling and apps are built in and a site runs $29–$39 a month. Webflow wins for a business that competes on design and content and may want to leave: Premium is $25 a month, the CMS is deeper, and the code exports. Builds cost $500–$10,000 on either; ours are $349–$1,299 fixed. How to choose a web design company covers the rest.

Wix Studio and Webflow are the two platforms designers argue about, and the argument is mostly about designers. For a small business the question is narrower: which one gets a site that sells, ranks and can be edited by a non-designer, for the least money over three years, without trapping you.

Here is the comparison on those terms, with 2026 prices from both vendors' pages, what clients actually paid to have sites built on each, and the recurring themes from owners who have lived with both.

Price: the plans side by side

Both platforms changed prices in 2026. Wix's plans page lists Light at $17, Core at $29, Business at $39 and Business Elite at $159 a month on annual billing — Core is the cheapest plan that takes payments. Webflow merged its CMS and Business plans into Premium at $25 a month yearly or $39 monthly on May 13, 2026, per Webflow's help centre; Basic is $15 for a static site, and ecommerce plans are $29, $74 and $212.

Three-year plan cost for a small-business site, annual billing, 2026.
NeedWix StudioWebflowThree-year difference
Brochure site with a blogCore $29 → $1,044Premium $25 → $900Webflow $144 cheaper
Site that takes payments or bookingsCore $29 → $1,044Premium $25 + a booking tool at $15–$30 → $1,440 – $1,980Wix $400 – $900 cheaper

The plan difference is small either way — a few hundred dollars over three years. What is not small is the build, and that depends on who you hire.

Design control: where Webflow is still ahead

Webflow exposes the box model: classes, flexbox, grid, every breakpoint, interactions tied to scroll and hover. A designer who knows CSS can build anything, and the output is clean, semantic HTML. Wix Studio closed most of the gap — it has a real responsive engine, CSS grid, custom breakpoints and animations — and for the layouts a small business actually needs, the two produce comparable results. Where Webflow still wins is precision and consistency across a large site: a design system in Webflow stays a system. Our team designed MediFlow's patient app and provider dashboard in one design system, and the discipline that made that work — reusable components, strict spacing, typography tokens — is easier to enforce in Webflow than in any drag-and-drop editor.

The price of that control is the learning curve. A business owner can learn to edit a Wix Studio site in an afternoon. Editing a Webflow site is fine through the Editor for text and images; changing layout without breaking something takes real training.

Selling and bookings: where Wix Studio is ahead

If the site has to take money, Wix Studio is the simpler answer. Payments, bookings, scheduling, invoices, memberships, restaurant ordering and point of sale are tiers of one subscription, and they work on launch day. Webflow's ecommerce is competent for a small product catalogue but has no native bookings, charges 2% on the Standard plan, and most Webflow sites that sell services bolt on a third-party tool at $15–$50 a month. The Shopify versus Squarespace comparison covers the dedicated store platforms if selling is the whole point.

Portability and SEO

Webflow exports your HTML, CSS and JavaScript and your CMS content as CSV. The export is not a turnkey site — forms and CMS templates need rewiring — but it means a developer can rebuild elsewhere from your actual code. Wix exports nothing but content. Leave Wix and you rebuild from screenshots. For a business that expects to outlive its platform, that is a real difference; the ownership guide puts it in context.

On SEO, both emit clean titles, canonicals, sitemaps and structured data, and both rank. Webflow gives finer control over page weight and markup, which matters for nationally competitive terms. Wix Studio sites carry more platform JavaScript, which shows up in Core Web Vitals, but for local service businesses the content decides rankings and the platform is noise.

The Wix designer cost guide and the Webflow website cost guide have the sources and the three-year maths for each. The headline: a Webflow agency build is typically two to three times a Wix Studio agency build for a comparable site, because Webflow attracts specialist studios and Wix attracts generalists.

What owners on Reddit report, across r/webflow, r/Wix and r/smallbusiness threads, is consistent. Webflow owners praise the design result and complain about the learning curve, about needing their designer for layout changes, and — before the 2026 Premium change — about CMS item limits forcing an upgrade. Wix and Wix Studio owners praise how fast they launched and how much is built in, and complain about site speed scores, about upsell prompts inside the dashboard, and about discovering they cannot leave with the site. Both camps say the same thing about hiring: pick the platform your designer actually knows, because a Wix expert building in Webflow, or the reverse, costs more and ships worse.

Which one, for which business

  • A service business that takes bookings or payments, with no designer on staff — Wix Studio. The built-in tools and the forgiving editor are worth more than design precision.
  • A brand that competes on how it looks, publishes often, and may change agencies — Webflow. Design control, a real CMS and an exit.
  • A brochure site under ten pages — either; pick whichever your designer knows and the cheaper plan.
  • A store with more than a few dozen products — neither. Shopify, or Wix Business if the store is secondary.

Where we land

We build on both, at the same fixed prices — $349 for three pages, $689 for ten, $1,299 for fifteen, copy written, live in fourteen days. Our Webflow development page has the Webflow scope; we design on Wix Studio at the same packages. Either way the account is in your name and we are a collaborator, so the portability question is answered the same way whichever you pick: you can leave us without leaving the site.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wix Studio better than Webflow for a small business?
For a business that sells, takes bookings or will edit the site itself, usually yes — payments, scheduling and apps are built in and the editor is learnable in an afternoon. For a business competing on design and content with a designer on hand, Webflow is better: deeper CMS, finer control, and the code exports.
Is Webflow or Wix Studio cheaper?
The plans are close: Wix Core is $29 a month and Webflow Premium $25 on annual billing, so Webflow saves about $144 over three years for a brochure site, while Wix is cheaper once you need bookings or payments because those are built in. Build costs differ more — Webflow agencies typically charge two to three times Wix Studio agencies.
Can I export my site from Wix Studio or Webflow?
From Webflow, yes: HTML, CSS and JavaScript, plus CMS content as CSV. From Wix Studio, no — content only. Neither export is a working site on its own, but Webflow's gives a developer real code to rebuild from.
Which is better for SEO, Wix Studio or Webflow?
Both rank. Webflow gives more control over page weight and markup, which helps on nationally competitive terms; Wix Studio carries more platform JavaScript but has solid built-in SEO tools. For a local service business the difference is small and content decides.
Can a non-designer edit a Webflow site?
Text and images, yes, through Webflow's Editor. Layout and structure, not safely without training. Wix Studio is more forgiving for owners who want to change the site themselves.
How much does it cost to have a site built on Wix Studio or Webflow?
$1,000–$5,000 for a freelancer on Wix Studio and $1,000–$6,000 on Webflow; $1,000–$10,000 for a Wix Partner agency and $5,000–$15,000 for a mid-tier Webflow agency. Our fixed-price packages are $349–$1,299 on either platform.
